Meat Institute Reporting

A Member-Led Commitment to Best Practices and Industry Progress

About Reporting

Each year, Meat Institute packer-processors are invited to take part in a member-led, member-driven reporting process. It’s a way to track what’s working, share successes and improve meat and poultry production.

By reporting, your company:

  • Shows its commitment to doing things better for people, animals and the planet
  • Gain access to aggregated benchmarking data
  • Help the industry meet growing expectations from customers and consumers
  • Helps guide future advocacy, education, and policy decisions

You choose what to report. You don’t need to answer every question, just focus on the areas that matter most to your business.

Topics Your Can Report On

  • Food Safety – Show your commitment to producing safe, high-quality meat products.
  • Labor & Worker Safety – Share how you protect and support your employees.
  • Animal Welfare – Highlight animal care efforts and use of science-based standards.
  • Nutrition & Product Quality – Promote the role of meat in a healthy, balanced diet.
  • Environmental Impact – Report on efforts to reduce waste and conserve natural resources.

Step 1

Get Ready

The next Meat Institute Reporting period is May 1 to July 31, 2025, and covers operations from 2024.

Step 2

Submit Your Information

When it’s time to report, your company’s verifiers and reporters will receive an email with instructions on how to submit data.

What’s a Verifier?

Each company picks one person to be the verifier. This person:

  • Enters basic company information and can submit reporting data for their company
  • Assigns reporting tasks to others
  • Is the main point of contact for reporting

What’s a Reporter?

Reporters are employees who enter specific data, assigned by the verifier.

  • You can have as many reporters as you need
  • Once added, reporters will get access to the reporting system
